Don’t be fooled by his tender age, Toby is making waves and has an impressive CV to prove it.
A yellow ukulele given to him by his grandma when he was four sparked his passion for the guitar and he literally has not stopped.
Toby immersed himself in music and took every opportunity to listen to Joe Bonamassa, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore and many other blues greats.
A chance recording of him jamming on the sofa and posted on Facebook received tens of thousands of views and Toby’s Sunday Blues Jam was born
– he hasn’t missed a Sunday Jam in four years, such is his devotion to his fans.
One of his jams was a get well performance of Thrill is Gone for BB King shortly before he passed away – the post was viewed over 5 Million times in a few days and even his hero Joe Bonamassa shared it referring to Toby as a “future superstar of the blues”
Toby released his first Blues EP at the age of 10 entitled “Ten” Live performances with his heroes followed, Laurence Jones, Walter Trout
and Whitesnake legend Bernie Marsden – he was also surprised on stage by McFly during the ITV show Tonight at the London Palladium hosted by Bradley Walsh.
In 2016 he was cast as Zack Mooneyham in the West End production of “School of Rock” - by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Toby performed live to thousands every week for a year and won an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music at the age of 13.
His popularity grew and he appeared on many radio interviews and TV shows including TFI Friday twice, Little Big Shots in the USA, Spain and the UK, Comic Relief, Michael McIntyre, The X-Factor, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Blue Peter.
A performance in Denmark with Chicago bluesman Ronnie Baker Brooks has been viewed over 115 Million times.
In 2018 he became the “UK Young Blues Artist of the Year” at the UK Blues Awards. He has since performed in Norway, Sweden and was a guest on stage with Blues legend Buddy Guy in Denmark. He was also flown to California to appear on The Ellen Show where he performed the Stevie Wonder classic Superstition and was interviewed on the sofa by Ellen Degeneres.
“Aquarius” was released in 2021 and reached number one in the Official Jazz and Blues Album Charts.The album features music from genres that inspired Toby from a young age from Rockabilly, Blues through to harder edged Rock. Bernie Marsden also features on the album as a special guest.Toby is a Gibson artist and is endorsed by Blackstar Amplification and D’Addario Strings. He has had over 500 Million views on social media.
He is the youngest member of the Gibson Alliance – a select group of world-class musicians chosen to help shape the future of Gibson Guitars and inspire a new generation of players.
Toby had a busy 2022 touring around the world and also releasing “Icons” a covers album featuring tracks by artists who have inspired him.
A highlight of the year was performing on Joe Bonamassa’s Mediterranean Cruise and jamming with the man himself.For 2023 Toby has an all-new Cornwall-based band and is preparing to release new music and embark on a UK and Ireland tour.
Toby has just been announced as the 2023 “Young Blues Artist of the Year” at the UK Blues Awards in London.
